Navigation GesturesSamsung’s OneUI has a preference for the traditional three-bot navigation system. It gives you dedicated buttons for accessing recent apps, going to the home screen, and going back. If you are someone who loves to use gestures, you can switch to them by visiting Gestures.
One-handed modeThe Galaxy S22 Ultra is a huge device and it can get difficult to use it with just one hand, especially when trying to reach the top corners. This is where one-handed mode comes to the rescue. It can be enabled by visiting One-handed mode. Turn on the toggle and also enable gesture support. You can then trigger it anytime by swiping down in the center of the bottom edge of the screen.
Power off menu Pressing and holding the side button on the Galaxy S22 Ultra triggers the Bixby digital assistant. It needs to be pressed along with the volume-down key to get to the power menu. Apart from your usual Power Off, Restart, and Emergency mode options, there is an additional option called Side key settings. This is what will let you disable Bixby and go to the power menu by simply pressing the side button. Another way to do this is to visit Power off menu.
Dark ModeThe Galaxy S22 Ultra has an AMOLED panel. It means you can use dark mode to conserve your battery life. It can be enabled by visiting Dark Mode. You can even choose if the dark mode should turn on automatically, between sunset and sunrise, or during any other custom schedule.
Get a protective caseThe Galaxy S22 Ultra is a premium flagship which means it is also expensive to get it repaired. This is why we recommend heavily that you invest in a good protective case. Home screen customizationAndroid smartphones are all about customization and the Galaxy S22 Ultra is no different. Tap and hold on empty space anywhere on the home screen to access settings for changing wallpaper, themes, widgets, home screen grid, folder grid, and more. Visit Color Palette and turn on the toggle. This will automatically pick colors from your wallpaper and apply them to the rest of the visual elements of the software experience.
Smart WidgetsSmart Widgets is a feature that lets you stack multiple widgets over one another. Its main advantage is that your home screen does not get cluttered with widgets and app icons. You need to add one widget to the home screen and then tap and hold to choose the Create Stack option. Next up, select the widgets you want to add and your stacked smart widget will be created.
Lock Screen WidgetsThe Galaxy S22 Ultra customization does not stop at the home screen, it also has features for the lock screen. You can add widgets to the lock screen to have a quick glance at crucial details. Visit Widgets and turn on toggles for the widgets you want to use and reorder them as per your preference. Tap on the lock screen clock whenever you want to use them.
Always on display customizationThe Galaxy S22 Ultra has Always on Display which is customizable. All you need to do is to visit Always on Display. This will give you plenty of functionalities that you can enable/disable and an option to choose from various visual elements. This way, you cannot only customize the way Always on Display works but also the way it looks.
Battery PercentageThe Galaxy S23 Ultra shows the battery level in the status bar and gives you an idea how much of juice is still left. This works fine but what if you want to know the exact battery percentage. You can do so by visiting Show battery percentage. You need to turn on the toggle and that’s it.
Adjust display resolution and refresh rateThe Galaxy S22 Ultra display features Quad HD+ (3088 x 1440 pixels) resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. While you may be tempted to keep the display resolution and refresh rate to the maximum all the time, it can take a toll on your device’s battery life. This is why you should consider adjusting as per the need. Visit Screen Resolution and choose from your preferred resolution: WQHD+ (3088 x 1440), FHD+ (2316 x 1080), and HD+ (1544 x 720). As for refresh rate, you can choose Dynamic by visiting Motion Smoothness. This is the setting that automatically adjusts the refresh rate based on the content you see on the panel.
Default AppYour phone comes pre-installed with certain apps but you may prefer to use another app for the same purpose. This is why you should set your default apps. All you need to do is to visit Choose default apps. You can then browse all available options and set the preferred app for each of them.
Remove app folders or apps from home screenYour Galaxy S22 Ultra home screen may have a lot of apps and/or app folders that you might not want to be there. You can get rid of those by simply tapping and holding and dragging them to the trash icon you see on the screen. This simply removes those apps/app folders from the home screen and does not uninstall them.
Hide appsAs you will spend more time with your Galaxy S22 Ultra, you will go on to install more apps but you may not want some of them to be visible to everyone. The good thing is you can hide those apps natively. Tap and hold on the home screen and choose Hide apps. Now, all you need to do is to select the apps you want to hide and that’s it.
Motion PhotosMotion Photos is to Samsung phones what Live Photos is to iPhones. It is a feature that shoots a short clip at the same time you are clicking a photo. All you need to do is to enable it by tapping the Motion Photos icon next to the aspect ratio icon in the camera app.
Object EraserIt happens quite often when you click a photo, it gets ruined by an unwanted object(s) in the frame. This is where the Object Eraser feature comes to the rescue. It is available within the default gallery app on your phone when you access image editing options. It lets you select the unwanted object by either tapping or drawing around it.
Screen RecorderThe Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with an in-built screen recorder to help you record anything you are doing on the phone. It can be accessed by swiping down to open the Quick Settings panel and then tapping on the screen recorder tile. If you wish to adjust settings beforehand, tap and hold on to the tile.
Edge PanelsEdge Panels allow you to access apps and other shortcuts with just one tap. This is specifically beneficial when you are already inside some app. You do not have to exit the app and then open another one. You can enable and customize Edge Panel by visiting Edge Panels.
Software updatesThere is a good chance by the time you are reading this, you have a new Galaxy S22 Ultra update waiting for you to download and install. You can check for software updates by visiting Download and Install.
Eye Comfort ShieldIf you are someone who tends to use their smartphones till late at night or with lights turned off, you may want to turn on Eye Comfort Shield. It essentially limits blue light and uses warm colors. Samsung claims it can even make it easier to fall asleep at night. This can be enabled by visiting Display and turning on the toggle for Eye Comfort Shield
